Classic Margarita
There are a few irrefutable things I’ve learned about creating the best margarita. First: visit Mexico! Thank you for reading my comprehensive list.
…If you can’t book your flight out today, then I suppose the next best thing will be to carefully follow these next steps. #1: Use good ingredients. #2: Do not skimp on your tequila - It doesn’t have to be the top shelf tequila, but do not settle for the $19.99 special either. Trust me when I say the quality of your margarita is directly related to the tequila you use. #3: Use FRESH lime juice. I understand this will be a hassle because it means buying a whole bag of limes and manually squeezing out all the juice, but your hard work will pay off. #4: Make your own simple syrup from scratch. Using honey or Agave syrup can lead to a bad aftertaste or make your margarita too sweet. My simple syrup directions use ingredients already in your home and take next to no time to whip up. And lastly, #5: Get creative with your rim salts. If you're local here in Calgary, I highly recommend visiting Silk Road for their salt water chili-lime seasoning. It adds so much flavor while you sip and it doubles up as a popcorn seasoning… win win!
